Community Award Ceremonies

In addition to the Commencement Ceremony, there are various celebration ceremonies honoring the achievements of graduating students within the campus programs and communities that they belong to. Special celebrations will be held to acknowledge the achievements of our EOPS, DSPS, HIM, RADT, Honors, Promise, Veteran, AAPI, Chicanx and Latinx, Black, and LGBTQ+ students.

Asian American Pacific Islander Recognition Ceremony

The Asian American Pacific Islander Recognition Ceremony (ARC) is held every spring to honor and celebrate the personal and academic achievements of our graduating AAPI student community. The ARC aims to be as inclusive as possible, celebrating our diverse Asian American Pacific Islander identities and communities by sharing the traditions and practices we uphold with one another. Celebrate your accomplishments with your friends, family, and community!

CARE and CalWORKs Programs

The CARE and CalWORKs Programs celebrate our student-parents on campus at our End of the Year celebration by acknowledging their personal and academic accomplishments. The event will also provide space for connection, reflection, and community building, bringing student-parents and their families to celebrate together!

DRC Monarch Celebration

The DRC Monarch Celebration is an annual Spring event dedicated to recognizing and honoring the accomplishments of our undocumented students. This special ceremony celebrates both academic success and individual accomplishments, while acknowledging the resilience, determination, and contributions of our undocumented students. It serves as an opportunity to uplift and highlight the perseverance and dedication our undocumented students demonstrate throughout their educational journeys. The celebration also provides a welcoming space for students to reflect on their achievements and share this meaningful moment with their families, friends, and loved ones who have supported them along the way. Through this event, we aim to foster a sense of pride, recognition, and community while honoring the unique experiences of our undocumented students.

DSPS Celebration

The Disability Club and Honor Society host the DSPS Graduation/Transfer celebration in collaboration with Mesa’s DSPS Department. This is an opportunity for us to celebrate the many accomplishments and achievements of DSPS students and to wish them well.

EOPS and Special Programs Achievement Ceremony

The EOPS and Special Programs Achievement Ceremony is dedicated to honoring our EOPS student graduates. This year's ceremony theme is "Your New Era Awaits You" to celebrate the endless possibilities that lie ahead for our students as they embark on their new era surrounded by friends, loved ones, and chosen family. This ceremony includes a keynote speaker, student speakers, recognition of student graduates’ presentation, and much more!

Honors Program Celebration Event

Each spring, the Honors Program proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of our Honors students who have successfully completed all program requirements and are preparing to transfer. This annual event brings together our Honors graduates, transfer students, faculty, staff, and administrators to honor their hard work, dedication, and academic excellence.

Pride Center Lavender Celebration

The Lavender Celebration is an annual opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of all our LGBTQIA+ students. Our ceremony highlights success within academia and achievements of individual student goals. We celebrate the accomplishments of LGBTQIA+ students with the support of their friends, loved ones, and chosen family. If you are graduating, transferring, completing a certificate, or have recently returned to school, we invite you to participate!

Raza Grad Celebration

Raza Grad Celebration is a culturally empowering ceremony representing historical traditions from throughout the Americas. Raza Grad celebrates the diversity of the Chican@/Hispanic/Indigenous/Latin@ culture. The graduation celebration is open to all San Diego Mesa College graduating students who value the access to higher education and retention of our communities. Participation is not limited by area of study, ethnic background, or national origin. This event typically takes place in late Spring.

Rite of Passage Celebration

Dear Future Mesa College Graduate,

Join us for the San Diego Community College District Black Graduates and Transfer Students Rite of Passage! This is a celebration honoring academic excellence, determination, and the sacrifices which have led to your success. Our in-person celebration will include student recognition, entertainment, and free food. The Rite of Passage Ceremony is a celebration you do not want to miss! Graduates from Continuing Education, City, Mesa, Miramar College will join in celebration.

Transfer Recognition Luncheon (TRL)

The Transfer Recognition Luncheon is the Transfer Centers end-of-year celebration honoring students transfer success. Students have the opportunity to share their admissions outcomes with the Transfer Center and celebrate their transfer journey!

Veterans Recognition Ceremony

The Veterans Recognition Ceremony celebrates the academic achievements of all of our military-affiliated students (Veterans, Active Duty, Reserves, National Guard, Spouses, Dependents, Survivors, and Care-givers) who have or plan on graduating/transferring from San Diego Mesa College for the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, or Summer 2025 terms. For those who attend, we will also be providing a stole, pin, and covering the cost for your cap and gown for Commencement.

The 2027 ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 5th from 5:30pm to 7pm in MC 211 A/B.
